Jackson Memorial Tickets -- Now a Worldly Event

Michael Jackson is clearly the international star in death that he was in life -- the memorial lottery is now open to the world.

Initially, only U.S.residents qualified for the ticket drawing to score seats for Tuesday's Staples Center memorial. But now the folks putting it together have decided to open up registration to all earthly beings, saying, "Additional legal terms have been incorporated into the conditions of entry to allow non-U.S. residents the opportunity to register for the random ticket drawing."

The drawing closes tonight at 6:00 PM PT. Click here to register.

More than 1.2 million seek 17,500 tickets to Michael Jackson memorial

More than 1.2 million people have registered to attend Michael Jackson's memorial service Tuesday at Staples Center, according to a Jackson family spokesperson.

A total of 17,500 free tickets will be distributed to people selected at random from among those who register by 6 p.m. today at www.staplescenter.com.

So many people tried to register for the lottery that the website's server briefly crashed Friday morning as the ticketing process was announced. More than 500,000 people had registered for the lottery by Friday evening, a spokesperson for the Jackson family said.

Seeking to discourage massive throngs, officials said that there would be no funeral procession and that no one would be allowed inside a large area around Staples Center unless they had a ticket and a wristband, a media credential or could prove they live or work there.
